Writing Retreats of 2016

Click HERE for the flyer announcing the DATES for the 2016 Retreats and providing a REGISTRATION FORM.  As in the past there will be 9 Retreats during the year, each of which will be on a Saturday from 9:30 am to around 2 pm.

The 2016 Retreats will all be at Windward Community College, a room in the 'Akoakoa Building, but may change from session to session. We will met again in our room of  'Akoakoa 107/109 for Jan and Feb, but that might change.

As previously, there are two OPTIONS for Registration, with separate class numbers, either registration for the whole year including all 9 sessions, or registration for each session separately, with registration for up to 3 sessions possible at any one time. The costs have gone up a bit.

The biggest changes come in HOW to REGISTER:

1. Registration MUST be done in ADVANCE.
Walk-In Registration on the day of the Retreat is NOT available.
2. Online Registration is encouraged.   www.windwardcce.org/writing
3. In-Person Registration at the office window is fine if you are on campus.
4. Mail-in Registration with a check is fine. Be sure to allow mail delivery time.
5. Payment by phone with a credit card is NOT POSSIBLE any longer.

If you have questions about registration or location, phone Dal at 235-7433.
It's best to register early. It's not too early to register now before the holiday rush.

The last Retreat of 2015 comes Dec 12 to be followed by the Christmas Tea Party later that day.
The first Retreat of 2016 will be Jan. 17.

VERA STONE WILLIAMS - MANUSCRIPT EDITOR

Vera Stone Williams (Letters), a past president of Honolulu Pen Women, is available to edit your manuscript. Vera is the author of two acclaimed and popular non-fiction books on the role of women in the US Armed Forces: WASPs - Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII and WACs; the History of the Women's Army Corps, 1942 - 1978. She has also written a number of screenplays and a novel.

Here's what others have said about Vera:

"Vera Stone Williams not only carved my writing—she lived it.
Her willingness and trust to accept my erratic ways of telling a story not only encouraged me to pursue my writing but also supported me when I found myself doubting my abilities. She was a friend, a critic and my True North. Without her, my novel, The Thief of Secrets would probably have been “lost at sea,” but her commitment to guide me through it, and see it done, eased my journey. Vera was the buoy that kept me and my manuscript afloat."
 - Celma Ribeiro, author of Thief of Secrets

"I've been working on and off on my novel for several years without resolving the problems. Vera read my two-hundred-seventy pages. She opened my eyes to strategies to, on my own, organize the book and find and stay on focus. Her help was excellent. I'm on the right track now." - Shari Peterson

Contact Vera and find out what she can do for you: (808) 479-8502 or verastone60@gmail.com

____________________________________________

I’m not a chicken farmer but I am a transformational writing coach.

Writing a book can be daunting. International author MARCIA ZINA MAGER (Letters) is now working with novice and professional writers - NOT teaching how to write, NOT critiquing or editing work - but helping the writer express their authentic point of view.

Whether novel, memoir, non-fiction work, screenplay, essay, article - Marcia’s promise is the same: Together we’ll set a realistic goal and produce real results on paper. But more importantly, you’ll learn how to navigate and thrive in the challenging, mysterious, tumultuous terrain called the creative process.

Free initial consultation.  Visit www.321write.com
